PROMOTIONS Tae Kwon Do testing is a way to certify that students have a level of proficiency in their skills. Each level is identified by different colored belts and stripes. Promotion tests are presided over by Grand Master Camilo Centeno and Master Izeal Campbell. Currently the promotions are on the first week of each month at the Portland school. There is a fee designated for each KUP. See PROMOTIONAL CHART (below) To take a promotion test, students must be recommended by their instructor. The candidates must be members in good standing and own a uniform with a sewn on school patch.
IT IS NOT ALLOWED TO ASK WHEN YOU WILL BE PROMOTED OR TO QUESTION ANY OTHER STUDENT’S RATE OF ADVANCEMENT. Each month, instructors will review all students’ records and determine who will complete their basic requirements by the next testing date.
To become eligible to take a promotional test a student must meet all basic requirements for their current rank. Prior to the rank of Brown Belt, students must remain at each rank level for a minimum period of 3 months, during which time the basic requirements will be practiced. In addition to the physical requirements, a student must display confidence, discipline and dedication during all workouts.
Prior to a student’s testing date, instructors will conduct a pre-test. The purpose of the pre-test is to give the students an opportunity to demonstrate their level of readiness. Any correction received from this is to be taken without question and to be viewed as constructive criticism.
